Mario Keputa
Founder, Horizon5 AI
Mario Keputa grew up in Albania, studied at Cornell, worked at the World Bank, and came back. He built Horizon5 because Albania’s AI transformation should be led by the people who know this country best.
He holds an MPA and MBA (Impact Finance) from Cornell University and was awarded the Cornell Reynolds Leadership Fellowship. His research focuses on AI governance, innovation ecosystems, and institutional competitiveness. He is the author of The Next Europe: Why Europe Produces Nobel Prize Winners but Not Elon Musks, a policy paper examining why European talent and science consistently fail to scale into global technology leadership, and what must change.
Before Horizon5, he worked as a consultant at the World Bank Group on startup ecosystems, economic scaling, and competitiveness. He co-founded ZÂNI, a policy and research platform bringing together top Albanian professionals and students from leading US universities, focused on democratic governance and responsible AI. He also built Moovon Fin., an AI-enabled fintech startup in the US.
AI is already here. But the technology is only as good as the people using it. The world is moving fast, and Albania cannot afford to watch from the side. Horizon5 exists to make sure Albania is ready for it.
